Floral Preservation for every event by Birdtown Botanical Oddities

How it works…

  • Step 1

To begin the process of preserving your cherished event flowers, the first step involves submitting the provided form below. This initial action is crucial as it sets the foundation for our collaboration. Upon booking, a non-refundable deposit of $100.00 is required. This deposit not only secures your spot in our schedule but also enables us to acquire the specific materials needed for your unique project, ensuring that we can tailor our preservation process to your specific needs. This deposit is applied to your total amount due.

  • Step 2

Following your event, be sure to keep the florals in cool, clean water until you are able to drop-off at our studio location. To ensure the optimal preservation of your blooms, it is imperative that this drop-off occurs by appointment and no later than 72 hours after your event. This timely delivery is vital for maintaining the freshness and beauty of your flowers, allowing us to capture their essence in the best way possible.

  • Step 3

As you bask in the glow of your cherished memories, I'll be meticulously transforming your event's florals into a timeless keepsake. The preservation process is an intricate one, typically spanning 2 to 5 weeks, contingent on the variety and volume of flowers you entrust to me. Upon conclusion, I’ll share a sneak peek of the layout with you. While I'm open to minor adjustments, it’s crucial to bear in mind the fragility of dried flowers; they are not amenable to repeated repositioning. Once every flower is perfectly placed, I’ll coordinate with you to arrange the collection of your newly immortalized floral arrangement!

FAQs

I did not reserve a date for my event, can I still order preservation?

We totally understand that things can come up unexpectedly. Please text (419) 564-4352 so that we can come up with a game plan ASAP. Please remember that I can only preserve your flowers in the condition they were received, it’s important for me to receive them within 72 hours.

Will my flowers look different from the day of my event?

Yes, but this is one of the best parts! Most times florals will dry darker than originally seen as living flowers. It’s important to remember these flowers are no longer living, and there is no moisture in them - making them darker. Whites can turn “antique”, greenery, purples and blues can turn darker. Red florals tend to have the most variation in hues, they can dry red, purple, dark red or even a chocolately color. Please understand that we have no control over the hue that the florals will take on.

What do you do with leftover florals?

It is typical to have no flowers left after the process, due to damage or breakage during the drying process. If you wish to keep any leftover florals not in your item, you can purchase these for an additional 50.00. This charge is due to the fact that the florals were pre-processed, dried and post -processed.

How do you preserve the florals?

Your florals are preserved using professional silica gel, they are gently placed in containers for drying which can take 2-5 weeks, after this I remove each floral carefully, and use a paintbrush to dust off all florals before deciding on a layout for your piece. Once finished, I spray the florals with a UV sealant.

How do I care for my florals?

Your florals are a piece of art, and should be treated as such. Please follow the directions below to ensure your piece ages as any art would.

  • Keep away from direct sunlight & away from any heat source.

  • Keep in a cool and dry location.

  • Clean front glass with glass cleaner sprayed onto a cloth, and not the glass itself.

  • Do not touch the florals.

Are there florals that do not dry well?

Yes, unfortunately there are. Succulents, Tropicals and berries are unable to be dried due to their moisture content.

Can I have my florals split up into multiple items?

Of course! It’s becoming very popular for brides to gift their family, or wedding party small preservations of your florals. If you would like to do this, please mention this to me in your form submission.

How long until my finished product?

Floral preservation is a long and meticulous process. Flowers must be documented, dismantled, pre-treated, carefully layered with silica gel to dry, and post processing before the design can even be started! Typically our total production time is 10-12 weeks from the date we receive the florals.

Do you accept returns?

Due to the nature of every piece being customized, all sales are final. Final payment must be made before or upon pick-up. If this payment has not been made, and contact has been unsuccessful, your florals will become property of Birdtown Botanical Oddities.
